NBS Dancing for a Cause is a biennial event which raises money for Nelson Tasman Hospice. Ten local contestants compete to raise as much money as possible for the cause, and along with their trained dance partner, strut their stuff in the Trafalgar Centre in the hopes of being crowned the winner of NBS Dancing for a Cause!

The Dancing for a Cause event was first held in May 2018 to a sold-out crowd at Nelson’s Trafalgar Centre, raising $111,000 for Nelson Tasman Hospice.

The 2021 event, with the support of the amazing Nelson community, raised an astonishing $248,000.

Continuing the same successful format, the 2023 event saw ten local personalities partnered with a trained ballroom dancer, performing a ballroom dance, in front of a panel of professional judges and a sold-out live audience. Nelson again showed an outpouring of support and helped to raise a staggering $440,000 for the Nelson Tasman Hospice.
