A two-vehicle collision in Lower Moutere caused 200 homes to lose power this morning.

The crash involving one truck and a car saw a vehicle collide with a power pole on Edwards Rd, Lower Moutere around 8am Tuesday.

Fire and Emergency NZ spokesperson Simon Lyford says upon arrival the two occupants involved were out of their vehicles.

St John spokesperson Gerard Campbell says an ambulance arrived at the scene but the crew wasn’t required as there were no injuries.

The crash saw 200 homes initially affected by a power outage according to Network Tasman operations manager Robert Derks.

Robert says the outage was quickly minimised to just nine homes by 9am.

Robert warns residents that later this morning Network Tasman will have to increase that number from nine to 50 until they can replace the damaged pole.

Network Tasman says the pole should be replaced by 2pm and power will be restored fully to the area around this time.
