Earthquake shakes top of the south

A quake 70km north of Collingwood has rocked the Top of the South as well as the lower north island.

A 5.5 magnitude earthquake rocked the Top of the South as well as the lower North Island on Sunday.

GeoNet detailed the quake that struck at 4.16pm, 70km north-east of Collingwood and at a depth of 190km.

Nelson, Tasman as well as south-east of the North Island through Wellington to New Plymouth bared the brunt of the shake.

The shake is reported to have been felt from as far as Invercargill to Kaitaia.
