Enner Glynn School has confirmed a second staff member at the school has tested positive for Covid-19.

In a statement from primary school principal Issac Day, a staff member has been infectious since Saturday December 4, as confirmed by the medical officer of health.

"As the staff member was in home quarantine during his infectious period, they are not thought to pose any risk of infection to students and the community," says Issac.

This is the second confirmed case for the school after a learning support worker was confirmed as infectious since Monday November 29.

The school had to close last Thursday and Friday under advice from the medical officer of health and testing stations opened on school grounds.

It was estimated that up to 40 students were considered close contacts to the first staff member infected.

The school remains open for today and asks the community to maintain extra vigilance at this time.

"If anyone develops symptoms that might be COVID, for instance a mild runny nose or cough, please don’t come to school, get tested, and self-isolate until you have a negative result," says Issac.

The school says they will continue to take all necessary precautions to keep children safe.

Four new Covid-19 cases were announced in the region on Monday bringing the total number of active cases in the Top of the South to 19.
