Appeal for witnesses after Nayland Rd assault

Nelson Police are asking to speak with anyone who witnessed an assault that occurred on Nayland Rd on Monday afternoon.

The assault happened at around 3pm outside Broadgreen Intermediate School.

“Those involved are speaking with police and assisting with our enquiries. Police are confident that those involved will be held accountable and rely on information from the public in these instances,” a police spokesperson says.

Police are now wanting to speak with any members of the public who were in the area and saw the incident.

A statement on the school’s Facebook page stated that the incident occurred when someone from outside the school came on to the school grounds and had a disagreement with a student.

“This then continued after school onto Nayland Rd and the police were called,” the statement read.
