Nelson Marlborough Health is reporting 440 new cases of Covid-19 for the region today.
This number differs from the Ministry of Health’s figure of 436.
Discrepancies in the number of cases often occurs between the DHB and Ministry because of differing data cut-off times.
Of the 440 new cases reported today, 141 are located in Nelson, 108 are in Blenheim, 65 in Richmond, 46 in Motueka/Moutere, 11 in Picton, and 5 in Golden Bay.
A further 37 cases are located in other areas of Tasman and 23 in other areas of Marlborough. An additional 4 cases are marked as unknown/other.
Nelson Marlborough now has 5,425 confirmed active community cases of Covid-19.
12,307 new cases were announced nationwide and the seven-day rolling average is 14,969.
654 people are currently in hospital with the virus, 13 of whom are in Nelson Marlborough.
The average age of those currently hospitalised is 57, and 23 people are in the ICU or HDU.
The Ministry is also announcing the deaths of 15 people who had tested positive with Covid-19.
One was from the Nelson Marlborough region.
The deaths being announced today include people who have died over the last four weeks.
The Ministry says that delays to reporting can be associated with people dying with the virus, rather than from Covid-19, and the virus only being discovered after they have died.
443 people are now confirmed to have died with Covid-19 in New Zealand.
There are 86,122 confirmed active community cases of the virus nationwide and the country has recorded 728,764 total cases over the course of the pandemic.
