Brad Kershaw burnt off his rivals in the U15 sprints at the SSIS champs at the Saxton athletics track over the weekend.
The reigning national age grade champion ran right up to his star billing, recording a new personal best of 11.04 seconds in his 100m heat.
“I was hoping to dip under 11 seconds in the final, but I am happy with 11.21,” says Brad, after leaving his rivals in his wake.
He also claimed a new pb in the 200m, 22.39 as he continued his remarkable season.
Brad also spearheaded the Nelson College relay team with Ryan Quin, Joel Stobie and Mathieu Moratu which cleared right away in the U15 4x100m in 46.22.
Sixteen-year-old Niall Foster also took out the 100m – 200m double in the U19 division.
“I just do it for the skill. Rugby is my main sport,” says Niall.
He and Brad both play wing or fullback in the Nelson College 2nd XV and will be in action against Marlborough College and Waimea College in a game of three halves this weekend.
Another Nelson College runner, Nic Gill, added to the placings, winning the boys U14 400m in 56.20.
