Update 10.30am: the road has now reopened, with speed management in place.
Motorists have been advised to seek alternative routes while emergency services work to clear a crash on State Highway 6 near Canvastown.
A police spokesperson says reports came in around 6.20am Sunday, after a large vehicle rolled, obstructing the roadway and forcing the closure of the main route between Nelson and Blenheim.
No injuries have been reported, but the crash means the highway will be closed for some time.
NZTA says all traffic to SH6 for Nelson is advised to follow Richmond – Glenhope, then join SH63 to Blenheim. Traffic heading north to Nelson should follow the reverse route.
