The DH Builders Queen of the Clay title headlined a huge night of racing at the Milestone Homes Top of the South Speedway.
The scene was set for an epic final heat when first race winner Brittany Carpenter struck trouble in race 2, stalled on the track with a missing power steering belt and a broken axle. It set up what was a battle to decide the Queen of the Clay title.
The fixed-up Brittany switched to block mode in the final race to help her Cowgirls teammate Riki-Lee Kauri secure the Queen of the Clay title, taking out her race rivals in the final heat.
The first target was points leader Laura Weir, then Brittany moved onto the biggest threat, Shinnae McNally, before battling with Kylie Hall in the latter part of the race. Riki-Lee took the race win to claim the crown with an 8-point buffer.
A huge couple of hits in the Dash for Cash made a great way to end a very successful inaugural Ladies title.
There was plenty of other championships up for grabs - Jonti Austin securing the club T.Q. Midget title by just two points over the 9-race series, pipping Kohen Thompson with Alicia Hill placing 3rd.
Locky Martin dominated the Youth Ministocks, ending the season with the Club Championship. Second place was Andre Musgrove with Eli Gare in 3rd.
The girls also raced for their Queen of the Clay competition. Leilah Jefcoate took the crown, with Kayla Musgrove 2nd, and Kody Hogarth 3rd. The new Alicia and Alex Hill Female Ambassador trophy was awarded to Kayla Musgrove.
The Old v Young Production Saloon title went the way of the youth after the senior drivers ran out of puff in the final heat. The youngsters were fit enough to overhaul the points difference, Shaun Heath, Krissy Wolf, Richard Ross and David Allen claiming bragging rights.
A welcome return for the Super Saloons, Ian Burson getting his first club meeting on the track this season, claiming the club title from Daryl Martin and Dale Bigwood.
Sidecars were another class that haven’t been seen much this season. The Sam Satherley Memorial raced on a tacky track, Canterbury’s Ben Morris and Graham Partridge claiming victory over Bevan Nuttridge and Michael Twose with locals Rob and Harly Martin 3rd.
Streetstocks and Super Stocks were support grades, Cody McCarrison and Brett Nicholls claimed top points for their respective grades.
Brittany Carpenter was awarded the Stirrers prize for her heat 3 antics, next year’s Queen of the Clay title already in her sights after a busy night of racing, plenty of winners and grinners.
The final meeting of the season, the Easter Extravaganza, has been cancelled due to the wet weather forecast.
