It’s a good school day when you get to ride around town in a double decker bus and shoot some hoops with the NBS Nelson Giants.

About 65 Henley School students joined The Giants Experience last week where they got to do drills and hoops with the team, including Coen Williams and Hayden Jones who are former students from the school and now tower over their young protegee.

This is the second year Tahuna Beach Holiday Park has run the programme which involves five school-related events a year with the Giants, beginning with a tiki tour around town on the double decker bus before watching the Giants practise.

Then students get the opportunity to head to the court themselves for some coaching from the team and nab some autographs before heading back to school.

Henley senior school leader, Sam Baxendine, says most of the students at the stadium were signed up for basketball, which supported the fact it is largest growing sport in the country.
