For the second time this season Marist has made a real mess of Central in club rugby.
Winger Adam Schwass and centre Timi Sauira both scored two tries as Marist won 55-14 in Blenheim to make a flying start to the second round of matches in the Tasman Trophy.
If the scoreline seems strangely familiar, it is because Marist won their season opener 56-14 at Trafalgar Park.
The victory took Marist back to the top of the table, on points differential, ahead of Waimea Old Boys which only managed three tries in its hard-fought 22-19 win over Kahurangi.
Waimea led 22-7 just three minutes into the second half against Kahurangi at Jubilee Park, with French hooker Guilhem Bourgois scoring a double to give him six tries in as many games.
But the home side, which had the Crusaders leading try scorer Macca Springer playing at centre, then had to withstand a storming finish from the visitors.
Captain and hooker Josh Te Hira and Te Pouho Stephens both scored tries and the match ended with Kahurangi hot on attack.
In the other game Nelson avenged its first round loss to Stoke, winning 36-17 at Trafalgar Park.
In the absence of try scoring winger Brodie Robinson, second five Nick Foxley grabbed a hattrick.
