Hundreds of people packed along the banks of Wakefield Quay for the 2023 Blessing of the Fishing Fleet.

With over a quarter of the local population involved in the industry, the 21st blessing of the fleet saw dozens of vessels gather in the harbour to celebrate what the fishing industry means for the community.

After Friday night’s fireworks, today’s programme saw a large crowd in attendance to commemorate the blessing, paying tribute to lives lost at sea, blessing local fishing vessels going out this season, and spectating displays from the local Coast Guard and tug boats.
