In the ever-evolving landscape of retail, change is not merely inevitable; it is essential for growth and adaptation. It is with great excitement and a tinge of nostalgia that the local Hunting & Fishing team announce the merging of their two locally owned stores into a new flagship mega store at the Nelson Junction. Marking the beginning of a new era, Managing Director Mike Darling says, their one-store strategy is aimed at elevating the customer experience. “We are thrilled to co-locate with National and Australian brands at Nelson Junction, seizing an opportunity that aligns with our commitment to providing top-notch products and experiences.”
Locally owned and operated, the Nelson Hunting & Fishing store was originally established over 30 years ago as ‘Tony Entwistle’s Hunting and Fishing. Michael Darling and his brothers David, Andrew and Pete acquired the Richmond and Nelson CBD sites in 2017, with both stores thriving under their leadership. The creation of the megastore at 99 Cadillac Way in Annesbrook, brings together two dynamic teams, uniting staff to work collaboratively at the new location. “This move not only ensures continuity but also allows us to offer an even broader range of high-quality products and exceptional service.”
The transition to a central hub, just 7km from Richmond and 5km from Nelson, is a fresh chapter in the Nelson Hunting & Fishing journey and one that the team look forward to. “Our history is a testament to our growth, and this merger is a testament to our commitment to evolving with the needs of our customers. We look forward to welcoming you to our new flagship store where the spirit of adventure and outdoor enthusiasm will continue to thrive under one unified banner.”
Business Performance and Development Manager Laura Langridge says the journey of the merge first began five years ago however, it was around two years ago that the vision really started to take shape. Dedicated to unity, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to their customers Laura wanted to extend a huge thanks to all, on behalf of the team. “We loved the whole community feel in both Richmond and Nelson, and the regulars who would come in, but one of the highlights of moving is to a brighter newer fresher and more spacious store was to create a wonderful experience for all our customers. Both of our stores had limited second-storey access, and in planning the layout of the new store we made a conscious decision to keep the new space all on one floor and easily accessible for everyone. It's the sense of community that has been the beating heart of our stores, and it is a legacy we carry with us as we unite under one roof.”
“Together, we aim to create a space that not only showcases our premier ranges of products but also sets a new standard for excellence in customer experience. Central to our vision for the Mega Store is the concept of evolution. We wanted to create a brighter, fresher, and more spacious environment that pays tribute to our roots while embracing the future. This move also allows us to expand our range of products, catering to a broader spectrum of niche categories and interests.”
As the team prepare for a soft opening on April 18th, they are excited to announce the grand opening on April 20th. With discounts of up to 50% on selected brands and a plethora of special promotions, there's something for everyone to look forward to. “The Radio Hauraki team will be hosting a 'Spin & Win' wheel from 10:30 until 12:30 with plenty of spot prizes to giveaway. We will have a sausage sizzle in the morning, along with over $5000 in prizes up for grabs through our ‘Shop and Win’ promotion, and opening specials running from April 18 to the 28,” says Laura. “We would like to extend a big thank you to everyone including our staff and customers for their patience during the merge into our bigger and better destination location! It is an exciting step in the journey.”
