Local man dies in Marlborough crash

Nelson personality Francis Monopoli has died in a car accident in the Marlborough Sounds this morning, the Nelson App understands.
Francis was the owner of the New Street Steakhouse and Wakatu Hotel before that.
He was a staunch supporter and life member of the Marist Rugby Club.
The incident is believed to take place on Te Towaka- Port Ligar Rd, Marlborough around 8.30 Tuesday morning.
The Marist Rugby Club posted a tribute on its Facebook page this evening hailing Francis as an “exceptional man”.
