New location of interest for Nelson

Staff Reporter

Z Service Station on Rutherford St is the latest location of interest in the region as one new case from Sunday brings the total number of active cases to 23.

Those that visited the Z Service Station between 3pm and 4pm, Wednesday December 8, are asked by the Ministry of Health to self-monitor for Covid-19 symptoms for 10 days following contact.

If symptoms develop the ministry asks you to get a test and stay at home until you get a negative test result.

Sunday's one new Covid case was officially added to Monday's tally.

As of Monday, no cases under the Nelson Marlborough DHB are in hospital.

Heading into summer the Ministry of Health announced that rapid antigen testing will be available for unvaccinated travellers from this Wednesday.

The testing will be available for free at participating pharmacies for asymptomatic unvaccinated people aged 12 years and three months travelling over the holiday period.

The ministry says evidence of a supervised negative rapid antigen test will be required for these unvaccinated travellers leaving the Auckland region and for domestic travel with some transport companies.

As of this Monday 483 pharmacies across Aotearoa have opted in to provide these supervised tests. Of these 345 are in the North Island and 138 are in the South Island.

Participating pharmacies can be found on the Healthpoint website – www.healthpoint.co.nz.

While rapid antigen tests will at times give false-positive results, any unvaccinated people who receive a positive rapid antigen test result will be strongly advised to seek a confirmatory PCR test.

Those unvaccianted won’t be able to travel without a negative PCR test result so please plan ahead to allow sufficient time to get tested and receive your result.
