One dead after glider crash near St Arnaud

A person has died after a glider crashed at Lake Station Airstrip, Howard, near St Arnaud today.

Emergency services responded to a report of an incident involving a light aircraft about 2pm.

A police spokesperson said the aircraft crashed on the runway and the occupant passed away at the scene.

“Police extend their condolences to their family at this difficult time.”

A scene examination is under way, and the Civil Aviation Authority has been advised.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said they responded with one first-response unit and one helicopter but were not required for transport, and referred the matter to police.
