Finding Nemo the movie was a hit for Disney-Pixar and now the Nelson Youth Theatre Company have bought the movie to life in this fantastic stage show.
Today’s opening performance was with Team Lily, with Lily Williams in the Role of Nemo. I was impressed by Lily’s clear singing and stage presence as well as Marlin, played by Luca Breton, and Dory played by Lily Bird.
I loved every scene, especially the interaction amongst the fish tank friends who performed the scene with enthusiasm.
The clever back drops really helped to portray the different scenes of being in the ocean or in a fish tank and added something special to the whole musical.
The show was performed with an enthusiastic cast and I loved the animated faces and the fantastic singing.
I loved the humour of the seagulls that came on stage for the big scene changes and their antics added to the whole story.
The whole cast looked like they were having a great time and there were no visible nerves for this opening night.
The sound and lighting were perfect for the different scenes and you could hear and understand all the songs performed.
The costumes were big and bright and helped to bring the whole show to life. A big congratulations to the costume team that no doubt spent many hours putting all the costumes together that really added a professional touch to the show.
There are only eight shows being performed so I encourage you to get out there and book tickets as soon as you can, as I am sure that the shows will sell out quickly.
Well done, Nelson Youth Theatre Company, for bringing Nemo to the stage.
