A two-car crash at the intersection of SH6 Gladstone Rd and Queen St is creating traffic chaos.

The crash, which happened just after 11.30am on Monday, has left three people with injuries.

A St John Ambulance spokesperson says two patients have minor injuries and one has moderate injuries and has been transported to Nelson Hospital by ambulance.

A witness says a car flipped after it was crashed into, leaving the driver with injuries to their arm.

Emergency services are at the scene including ambulance, police and fire.

Traffic delays are expected while the scene is cleared.

The intersection made headlines in June after local residents reported an increase in the number of drivers running red lights.
