A Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter call out to the Nelson Lakes yesterday proves once again the value of a personal locator beacon.
The rescue helicopter responded to a personal locator beacon alert in the Nelson Lakes at approximately 12.30pm on Monday.
Rescue pilot Brendan Hiatt says the man had suffered a fractured ankle on the Moss Pass.
“It was another example of why it’s always a good idea to carry a beacon,” says Brendan.
He was picked up by the crew and flown to Nelson Hospital.
Later that day, the crew responded to a medical event in Havelock around 7.15pm.
The patient was flown to Nelson Hospital for treatment.
