Xmas lights delight

It started as a way to placate a five-year-old and turned into a mini obsession for Tesha Tansi and her young family.

Her son Bosston saw fairy lights on a Santa display in Nelson and said he wanted some for their house.

“So, we got some string lights for the verandah. Then we said we needed something more, and then something more … Every weekend we were putting more and more on.”

By the time they had finished, Tesha and partner Nick had spent more than they envisioned on the project and thought they should let other people enjoy them too.

They are one of 10 homes that are taking part in this year’s Christmas Lights Nelson Tasman.

Each home has been lovingly decorated with seasonal spirit where locals are permitted to visit and enjoy what they have on show.

That will also put you and the homeowner in the draw to win some great prizes, including a weekend away at a Delaware Bay beach house courtesy of Glenda Buschl at Haven Realty.

There is also cash and hampers up for grabs courtesy of MTF Finance and Radio World.

For Tesha, it is well worth it to see the look on her son’s face when they light them up.

“He loves it and I’m pretty proud of it, too.”
