Car collides with bridge near Wakefield

A driver has sustained minor injuries after crashing into a bridge near Wakefield last night.

A police spokesperson says the crash occurred at about 9.30pm Sunday night along Main Rd Spring Grove, described as about 5km north of Wakefield.

Police say the sole female occupant had minor injuries and was spoken to by Police.

St John spokesperson Beverly Tse says one ambulance responded to the incident, treating the driver at the scene.

Fire and Emergency NZ were also on the scene sending two crews from Wakefield to attend the crash.

FENZ spokesperson Brent Dunn says that nobody was trapped inside the vehicle upon arrival.

Police say the road was partially blocked for a time until a tow arrived for the car.
