Nelson Central School is laying down a challenge to the community - come and join their rogaine fundraiser event this weekend.

The Central Challenge is a family adventure race that isn’t just for the school, it is for all of Nelson to enjoy.

“It’s going to be a fun-filled day for all ages and the whole community,” says Joss Morters of the school community group.

The Central Challenge is an opportunity to have a day out in Central Nelson and enjoy a rogaine adventure race for all ages and stages.

Joss says the race is for young and old and other games and activities will be on offer on the school grounds, too.

“We also have some amazing spot prizes, donated from the business community, and raffles to be drawn after the challenge.

“Some of the students are putting together their own stalls and there will be baking, a sausage sizzle, a coffee cart, and other food stalls too.”

The race comes in two formats - a one-hour family rogaine, or a two-hour challenge rogaine.

The one-hour race is set around and near to the school and involves finding answers to clues. Any level of ability and age can enter.

The two-hour race is set in the town, valleys, and hills surrounding the school and is perfect for older children and teenagers, corporate teams, and Spring Challenge teams.

“A bit of strategy is required,” says Joss.

“But it’s a ‘challenge by choice’, you go as far and as fast as you choose.”

Online registration closes midnight Friday, 5 May and those who register by then go into the draw to win a brand-new Evo bike. Registrations will still be open on the event day.

The Central Challenge is happening this Sunday, 7 May from 10am – 2pm at Nelson Central School on Nile St. If wet, it will be postponed until Sunday, 21 May. For more information and to register, go to www.centralchallenge.co.nz
