Garage fire in Brightwater on Thursday

Firefighters were called out to a fire in Brightwater on Thursday afternoon.

The fire began in a garage on Mount Heslington Rd and “totally destroyed” the building according to Fire and Emergency NZ shift supervisor Riwai Grace.

Five units from Brightwater, Wakefield, Richmond, Nelson, and Appleby responded to the call out shortly before 3pm on Thursday.

The blaze was successfully contained to the garage and was prevented from spreading to the house on-site or to any of the neighbouring properties.
