A Fonterra milk tanker has flipped and spilled along Matakitaki Rd, Six Mile, just south of Murchison.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) spokesperson Daryl Ball says they heard about a rolled milk truck at 10.48am Thursday, approximately 5km up Matakitaki Rd.
Two FENZ crews from Murchison attended the scene and Daryl says the driver was out of the vehicle upon arrival.
St John spokesperson Gerard Campbell says one patient was attended to at the scene with minor injuries.
A Fonterra spokesperson confirmed their driver was unharmed and says milk was lost from the tanker though it has been contained and is not entering any waterways.
Tasman District Council communications manager Chris Choat says the council are assisting Fonterra with site clean up by way of traffic management.
“Fonterra is waiting on specialist equipment to arrive in order to complete the task."
Chris says as of 3.45pm the road was open but still under traffic management while the final clean-up is taking place.
The road is expected to be fully open again later this evening.
