Nelson has been named as one of the 23 stops for Kiwi band SIX60 on their upcoming Grassroots Tour.
The concert will take place on 30 April at the Trafalgar Centre.
The tour will see the band play acoustic versions of their biggest hits, exclusively in small towns and venues across Aotearoa. As well as Nelson, they will be playing in Greymouth, Waimate, Waipara, Gore, Stewart Island, Queenstown, Invercargill, and Oamaru in the South Island.
Each show will be recorded to compile a new album, ‘Best Of Grassroots Tour’, to be released later this year.
Opening each show is up and coming artist Makayla (Ngāti Kahungungu ki Heretaunga, Te Whakatōhea). Born in Boston and raised in the Hawke’s Bay, Makayla is the most recent signing to SIX60’s record label MASSIVE.
The tour announcement comes after Eli Paewai, who has played drums for the band since they formed in 2008, confirmed that he will be retiring from his role at the end of this month.
Tickets go on sale on Monday, 4 March from Ticketmaster.
