The Ministry of Health has reported one new case of Covid-19 in the region but with one case recovered, the total number of cases remains at 20.

The ministry report the new case as being linked to an existing case.

One person carrying one of these 20 cases remains in hospital but not in intensive care or a high dependency unit.

Vaccination rates under the Nelson Marlborough DHB remain at 93 per cent of residents having had their first dose while 87 per cent have had two doses.

There have been no locations of interest added to the ministry's tracing website since December 4.

To date, 94% of eligible people in New Zealand have had their first dose and 88% are fully vaccinated.

Pop-up testing sites remain open in Nelson-Tasman today including:

  • Saxton Fields carpark, Suffolk Rd, Stoke, 9am to 6pm.
  • Richmond Showgrounds, 359 Lower Queen St, 9am to 6pm.
  • Motueka Recreation Centre: Old Wharf Rd, Motueka, 9am to 3pm.

The Ministry of Health asks for anyone in New Zealand with symptoms – no matter how mild – to get tested, even if you’re vaccinated. Please remain isolated until you return a negative test result.
