Originair has been forced to postpone a planned expansion which will see direct flights to the Hawke's Bay.
Originair will resume flights to Palmerston North, Hamilton and Wellington from Friday but will wait till October to begin flying its new route.
Airline ceo Robert Inglis says their regular schedule will be reduced to reflect a weaker demand which they expect to continue "for some time".
Robert expects the reduced schedule to run until confidence in travel lifts and events and conferences are rescheduled.
Flights to the Hawke's Bay will now begin on 22 October in time for Labour Weekend.
The Nelson-based airline has a fleet of three 18-seat Jetstream 31/32 regional turboprop aircraft which Robert says are all ready for service.
