Prison van rear-ended near Murchison

A police transport van that was transporting three people, crashed near Murchison on Wednesday morning.

A police spokesperson says at around 7.20am, the van was rear-ended on its way from Nelson to Greymouth causing minor damage.

"No one was injured in the crash, and the van was able to continue driving."

The spokesperson says there were three people being transported at the time, all were accounted for and checked by medical staff for any injuries.

The van underwent a mechanical inspection to insure it was safe to continue driving and the passengers were successfully transported.
