The Pak 'N' Save Richmond Santa Parade which was set to jingle all the way down Queen St today has been cancelled.

Event organisers, Richmond Unlimited and Pop Up Events made the announcement yesterday, stating that it wasn't safe for the parade to proceed due to anticipated weather events.

"Richmond Unlimited and Pop Up Events take the safety of our participants and spectators seriously and with the current weather events happening, and the expected heavy rain overnight and early tomorrow morning it is not safe for the parade to take place," Richmond Unlimited says.

"We want to say thank you to all those community groups, businesses, schools, and individuals who put so much effort into this event.

"This wasn't a decision we made lightly."

Pop Up Events owner, Alex Bradley, told the Nelson App while there is no postponement date for the Richmond parade, all floats have been offered a spot in next Sunday's Nelson parade, which begins at 1pm in the CBD.
