A group of Victory businesses are hoping to ease the pressure on local families this Christmas with a tattoo and coffee inspired fundraiser this weekend.
The event is happening on Saturday, 16 December at Artistic Creations Tattoo Studio on St Vincent St, with all the proceeds going to charity.
There will be a whole bunch of tattoo flash art designs if you fancy some new ink, coffee from Ace of Cups around the corner, as well as hotdogs and more on the day which will run from 9am - 9pm.
Niko Bender and Danisa Bull from Artistic Creations are driving the fundraiser, and they hope to make it an annual event. They have also teamed up with Victory Boxing, who will help distribute the funds to those in need.
“I grew up in Victory Square and have been working here for eight or nine years,” says Niko.
“It’s part of me, so I want to help out the community. It’s a tough time at the moment for many families financially and Christmas makes it even tougher.”
Others involved in the fundraiser include Anchor Milk, Imbibe Coffee, New World Nelson, Continental Event Hire, Nicole Kaye Tattoo, and Connie Pickering, who will be supplying her ‘Bad Mom’ t-shirts and ‘Lickety Split’ snow cones.
After the event, Victory Boxing will distribute the money to the community in the form of supermarket vouchers.
Chair of Victory Boxing, Karen Darling, says the fundraiser is an “incredible” gesture that will make a “huge difference” for families.
“The cost of living has really impacted some whānau and the need over Christmas becomes even stronger,” she says.
“We are thrilled they have taken on this initiative to support the community.”
