Seasoned business-owners Sue and Erin Roughton established Protean Art allery to offer locals and visitors a vibrant and welcoming visual arts space close to the beach in Tahunanui, Nelson. 

If you are looking for original, inspiring, and diverse New Zealand made art, then our boutique gallery is the place for you. We showcase the work of established New Zealand artists, and we are also proud to support the work of young, emerging artists. 

Come and enjoy our intimate gallery experience and browse our selection of paintings, carvings, and ceramics. If you can’t decide on one piece of art, we can bring the art works to your home (Nelson/Tasman region) and offer advice on placement before you buy. 

We can arrange shipment across New Zealand.
