Its primary role is to promote the town of Richmond to support and further the business interests of the central business zone. We provide promotional information and activities to encourage local and out of district visitors and new residents. Some of the events we run include the Richmond Santa Parade and Richmond Market Day. We also act as a key link between Tasman District Council and the Richmond businesses to support development and activities that benefit the town and business. We also engage with key organisations such as the Nelson Regional Development Agency, Chamber of Commerce and Nelson Tasman Business Trust on behalf of Richmond.

Richmond Unlimited is defined by a zone that is roughly within the ring road of Oxford, Salisbury, Talbot, McGlashen & Gladstone Roads. Business owners and ratepayers within the area are automatically members, and pay a targeted rate which is collected by the Tasman District Council on behalf of Richmond Unlimited.
