The region’s top men’s football league remains a two-horse race after FC Nelson and Rangers recorded contrasting wins on Saturday.
FC Nelson recorded a big 4-0 win over Tahuna FC while Blenheim-based Rangers managed a 4-3 win over Nelson Suburbs Reserves at Saxton Field.
The two wins mean FC Nelson remain in the driving seat to win this year’s Nelson Bays Football first division as it holds a three point lead over its Marlborough rivals, but the nature of its win will also help its goal difference, if it came down to that.
Elsewhere FC Nelson Locomotive picked up its second point of the season, battling to a 0-0 draw with Richmond Athletic and Nelson Suburbs Seals were defaulted to by Motueka.

Nelson Bays Football Women’s Division:
The Richmond Foxes continued its faultless season, beating Nelson Suburbs Swans 5-1 on Saturday and Tahuna FC 1-0 on Sunday, the latter a catch up game.
In other results, Mapua beat FC Nelson Wahine 5-2, FC Nelson Diamonds and Golden Bay fought to a 2-2 draw and Nelson Suburbs Reserves were defaulted to by Motueka.
