In two contrasting games, FC Nelson took sole control of the to of the leaderboards after Nelson Bays Football men's first division action on Saturday.
Having beaten Rangers earlier in the week, they now sit in a clear first place as the the only remaining unbeaten team after five games, while Rangers and Nelson Suburbs Reserves sit three points behind on 12 points before a big drop to the fourth placed team, Motueka, on six points.
Action on Saturday at Guppy Park saw FC Nelson out-last Nelson Suburbs Seals in a thrilling nine-goal match, winning 5-4.
The win keeps their unbeaten record alive, while Rangers snuck a 1-0 win over Motueka in Motueka to get another notch in the win column.
Meanwhile, Nelson Suburbs Reserves beat Richmond 5-2 and Tahuna FC beat FC Nelson Locomotive 3-1.
Women's League:
In the Nelson Bays Football women's division Richmond Foxes beat FC Nelson Wahine 2-1; Nelson Suburbs Reserves beat Golden Bay 5-0; Nelson Suburbs Swans beat Tahuna FC 6-2; Mapua beat Motueka 4-2 and FC Nelson Diamonds had the bye.
Nelson Suburbs Reserves sit on top of the table with 15 points after six games.
