Suburbs dominate, while FC 1st XI wins derby

Nelson Suburbs Reserves were flying high at Saxton Field today with a big 10-0 win over Motueka AFC in the second round of the Nelson Bays Football men's first division.

Hattricks from Ben Pollock and Alade Yusef, along with a brace from Logan Van, a single goal from Brock Cotton and an own goal saw Suburbs come away with the win after leading 6-0 at half time.

Coach Dave Turner says his side was aided with a few members of the club's Southern Premier League team, who were not selected to play this week but was happy with the way his players controlled the game.

Meanwhile, at Guppy Park, FC Nelson 1st XI scored a goal in either half to win the club's derby against FC Nelson Karenni. Goals from TJ Hansen and Billy Scott were enough for the first team to pick up all three points and earn club bragging rights.

In Blenheim, Richmond were beaten by Rangers 2-1 with James Ward scoring for the visitors.

Golden Bay Mountain Goats also picked up its second win of the season, beating Tahuna FC 3-2 in Tahunanui.

In the women's Nelson Bays Football first division, defending champions Richmond Foxes racked up a big 11-2 win over Motueka Angels at Jubilee Park. Four second half goals from Nelson Suburbs Swans saw it beat FC Nelson Diamonds 5-1 at Saxton Field. Also at Saxton Field was Nelson Suburbs Reserves which beat Tahuna Breakers 5-1 and in Mapua, the Cougars went down to Golden Bay Sheild Maidens 2-4.
