Man charged following Waimea Rd stabbing

A man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing on Waimea Rd on Friday.

Around 1pm Friday, Nelson Police attended a Waimea Rd address where a 47-year-old male had been stabbed.

He was taken to Nelson Hospital with serious injuries, and after surgery is now in a stable condition.

Detective sergeant Mark Kaveney says a 40-year-old man, known to the victim, was taken into custody at the scene.

He has been charged with attempted murder and appeared in Nelson District Court Saturday 16 October.

Police say they are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident.
