Sevens star wins Sportsperson of the Year

Risaleaana Pouri-Lane has been named ASB Sportsperson of the Year.

The Motueka sevens star took out the top accolade at the Nelson Sports Awards this evening.

"I am actually speechless, I'm so surprised."

Risaleanna says there have been countless people who have helped her on her journey.

"And it just feels like the beginning,"

Looking at the names on the back of the trophy, Risaleanna says she was incredibly grateful.

"I'm just happy to be playing rugby as a job and at the same time inspire people hopefully in some way."
